It all started with a conversation between two colleagues and friends in the heat of the #MeToo movement, about how women (our voices and our art) should be taking up more space. And if women aren't achieving parity due to outdated power structures—it's time to flip the script and create visibility for women's work, through dynamic exhibition and multimodal programming models.

With these goals in mind—Lisa Wirth and Marly Hammer founded Work in Progress.

Interior designer and independent curator Lisa Wirth is a serial entrepreneur who has founded a number of businesses—and served in leadership roles at several successful, industry disruptive start-ups. Throughout her career, she's led on issues related to female empowerment and leadership, including coaching female founders and mentoring emerging entrepreneurs. In her artistic practice, Lisa specializes in Post War European design, and North American and European contemporary art. She is currently the Director of Design at Homepolish, and holds BS and MS degrees in Journalism from Northwestern University.

Marly Hammer is a New York based independent curator. She received her BA in Art History at Lafayette College and MA in Exhibition + Museum Studies from the San Francisco Art Institute. Marly has curated numerous exhibitions in New York and San Francisco that were informed by working at several galleries and corporate art collections including Tony Shafrazi, Demisch Danant, UBS, Neuberger Berman and Peter Marino Architect. Marly is currently the Art Fair Manager at PACE gallery, overseeing 22 global art fairs annually.
